The Town of Burin is a small town of approx. 2600 citizens living in a spread-out area on the shores of Burin Inlet, an inlet of water extending 8 km (5 mi) inland from the sea.
The Town itself is a collection of many separate settlements dating back to the 18th century that were incorporated in 1950 to make the Town of Burin. Burin offers a wide variety of services to residents and business that are located in the town.
Services like town-wide sewerage system and a non-depleting water supply are offered as well as a volunteer fire department, police detachment, deep-water harbour & several wharfs for ocean-going vessels.
