Saturday Aug 1/09

 

2:00 PM Motorcade for opening ceremonies will begin at CONA parking lot in Salt Pond.  Anyone having motorcycles, antique cars, etc. are encouraged to participate in the motorcade. Banner parade will begin at Salmonier Bridge.

 

3:00 PM- Opening ceremonies- Burin Town Hall.

 

During opening ceremonies we will be having a family banner parade.  We are encouraging families to prepare a banner with your family name on it for this event. If you need additional information on preparing a banner or the motorcade please contact the Special Events Coordinator at 891-2355 or by email at burinchy2009@hotmail.com

 

Following opening ceremonies: Meet and Greet at the Muriel Isaacs Seniors Centre. Musical entertainment provided. If weather permitting, music will be outside. Anyone wishing to bring along lawn chairs to enjoy the entertainment may do so.

 
At our closing ceremonies, August 9th, we will be closing a time capsule that will be opened in 25 years. Anyone interested in places photos of Come Home Year 2009 celebrations into our capsule may do so by giving the photo to any member of the Come Home Year Committee. Please acknowledge who is in the photo by writing names on back of the photo. Deadline to submit photos will be August 9th at noon.

2:00 PM- Santa Claus Parade beginning at the Town Hall to Heritage Square, Burin.  Anyone interested in having a float in the parade please contact the Special Events Coordinator at 891-2355.

 

4:00-6:00 PM- Kids Talent Time at Heritage Square. No charge. Please feel free to bring a pet food item to donate to the SPCA. To register please call 891-2355.

 

9:00 PM- Outdoor concert at Craig Lundrigan Memorial Field featuring Bar Code and Connemara. Concert is opened to all ages. Advanced tickets $10.00. Available at various locations. Alcoholic beverages will be available for 19 years and older.

Burin Come Home Year Committee wishes to inform you that a Come Home Year musical CD is available. You may order one by contacting the Special Events Coordinator at 891-2355 or email burinchy2009@hotmail.com.   Cost is $15.00 per CD.

 

This is a tentative schedule. All events are subject to change at the discretion of the Come Home Year Committee.

  

* AA Meetings to take place on Wednesday and Saturday at Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre at 8:30 PM in the Education room. For more information, contact Shane 891-1166/277-6666 or Ralph at 826-2707.
 
* By D'Rock Cafe will extend their hours on Monday, Thursday and Saturday until 9:30 PM for tea and dessert. Burin Heritage Museum will be opened from 8:30 - 4:30 PM. On Thursday, it will be opened until 8:00 PM. The Craft Shop will be opened 9:30 AM - 5:00 PM everyday.
 
* Everyone is encouraged to decorate their properties with lights to brighten up our beautiful town.
